Firefighters Cook Lunch for Quake-Affected Villagers in Xizang

More than a week has passed since a magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Dingri County in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on January 7. Amidst the ongoing resettlement and reconstruction efforts, a beacon of hope emerges in the form of the Xizang Forest Firefighting Special Operations Unit.

In Cuo'ang Village, Quluo Town, the firefighters have taken on a role beyond their call of duty. Donning aprons over their uniforms, they set up makeshift kitchens amidst the rubble, preparing hot meals for the villagers who have lost their homes.

"We want to ensure that everyone has a warm meal," says Li Wei, one of the firefighters. "It's the least we can do to help them regain a sense of normalcy."

The aroma of freshly cooked food wafts through the air, bringing smiles to the faces of the villagers. Children gather around, watching eagerly as the firefighters stir steaming pots of rice and vegetables.

"Their support means the world to us," shares Tashi, a resident of Cuo'ang Village. "In these difficult times, they are not just rescuers but part of our family."

As the community gathers to share the meal, there's a palpable sense of solidarity. The firefighters' efforts are a testament to the strength and unity of the people in the face of adversity.

While the road to recovery may be long, moments like these provide comfort and hope. The collaboration between the firefighting unit and the villagers exemplifies the resilience and spirit of the people of Xizang.
