Chinese Vice President Han Zheng Strengthens China-U.S. Ties with U.S. Business Leaders

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with representatives of the U.S. business community on Sunday in Washington D.C., emphasizing the importance of strengthening China-U.S. relations and encouraging continued investment by U.S. companies in China.

Han Zheng, who is in Washington D.C. as President Xi Jinping's special representative to attend the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Monday, engaged with leaders from the U.S.-China Business Council and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

During the meeting, Han expressed hope that U.S. companies would continue to invest and establish deeper roots in China, playing an active role as a bridge between the two nations and contributing to the steady, sound, and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations.

Han highlighted the recent phone conversation between President Xi Jinping and President-elect Donald Trump, noting that both leaders reached important common understandings regarding the future development of China-U.S. relations.

He emphasized that China and the United States share broad common interests and have vast potential for cooperation. \"Getting the bilateral relationship off to a good start and keeping it growing steadily serve the common well-being of the peoples of the two countries and meet the expectation of the international community,\" Han said.

Han recognized the U.S. business community as a backbone of China-U.S. relations, describing it as a participant, witness, contributor, and beneficiary of bilateral economic and trade cooperation as well as China's reform and opening-up efforts.

He assured the representatives that China would unswervingly advance its reform and opening-up initiatives and continue to improve its business environment.

Representatives of the U.S. business community responded positively, expressing optimism about China's economic prospects and development opportunities. They acknowledged that the recent phone conversation between Trump and Xi sent a positive and encouraging message.

\"As the world's two most dynamic and technologically advanced economies, the U.S. and China should pursue mutually beneficial cooperation and work towards finding a constructive and stable way to coexist,\" they stated.

They affirmed the U.S. business community's support for strengthening dialogue and communication to advance bilateral relations and economic and trade cooperation.

Later, Han Zheng also met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Han welcomed U.S. companies, including Tesla, to seize opportunities in China and contribute to promoting China-U.S. economic and trade relations.

Musk expressed enthusiasm for deepening Tesla's investment and cooperation with China and voiced his commitment to playing an active role in fostering economic and trade exchanges between the U.S. and China.

Han Zheng's meetings with U.S. business leaders underscore the mutual interest in enhancing economic ties and set a positive tone for the future of China-U.S. relations.
