Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended festive greetings on Monday to members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front ahead of the Spring Festival.
During the annual gathering held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Xi, who is also the Chinese President and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, conveyed his best wishes for the upcoming Spring Festival, which falls on January 29 this year.
In his address, Xi emphasized China's commitment to implementing more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies in the coming year. He highlighted the nation's focus on high-quality development and the promotion of greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology to ensure sustained social and economic growth in 2025.
Xi called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to concentrate on central tasks and serve the country's broader interests. He urged them to leverage their unique strengths to rally widespread support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength for the nation's development goals.
The importance of achieving the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025) was underscored, with Xi stressing the need to lay a solid foundation for the next five-year period. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, actively contribute to comprehensively deepening reform, promote high-quality development, and participate in formulating proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
Addressing environmental concerns, Xi highlighted the need to tackle critical and challenging problems in the supervision of the Yangtze River ecosystem's protection. He pointed out that safeguarding the river's health is vital for sustainable development.
Xi also called on the ACFIC to guide the private sector in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and bolstering confidence in development. He encouraged the establishment and improvement of modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features, aiming to strengthen the private sector's role in the economy.
The gathering reinforced the importance of unity and collaboration among all sectors of society to achieve China's development goals and to celebrate the Spring Festival with renewed vigor and common purpose.
