On Monday, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended festive greetings to members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front ahead of the upcoming Spring Festival.
Xi, who is also the Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, conveyed his well-wishes during an annual gathering with non-CPC personages at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. The Spring Festival, or Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year.
During the event, Xi emphasized China's commitment to implementing more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies. He stressed the importance of focusing on high-quality development and enhancing self-reliance and strength in science and technology to ensure sustained social and economic growth in 2025.
He called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to align with the central tasks, serve the nation's overall interests, and leverage their unique strengths. Xi urged them to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength to achieve common goals.
Highlighting the significance of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025), Xi underscored the need to accomplish its targets in 2025 and lay a solid foundation for the subsequent five years. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development and actively contribute to comprehensively deepening reform, promoting high-quality development, and formulating proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
Xi also stressed the urgency of addressing critical and challenging problems in supervising the protection of the Yangtze River ecosystem. He noted that the ACFIC should guide the private sector in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, bolstering confidence in development, and establishing modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features.
