Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended warm Spring Festival greetings to non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front on Monday. The event took place at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing ahead of the Lunar New Year, which falls on January 29 this year.
During the annual gathering, Xi Jinping, who is also the Chinese President and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration in achieving China's development goals. He stated that China would implement more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies, focus on high-quality development, and promote greater self-reliance and innovation in science and technology to ensure sustained social and economic progress in 2025.
Xi called on non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to harness their unique strengths to support the nation's central tasks. He encouraged them to serve the country's overall interests by rallying broader support, building consensus, and pooling wisdom and strength.
Highlighting the significance of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025), Xi underscored the need to meet its targets by 2025 and lay a solid foundation for the following five years. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, actively contribute to comprehensively deepening reform, promoting high-quality development, and formulating proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
Xi also stressed the importance of addressing critical challenges in the protection of the Yangtze River ecosystem. He urged collective efforts to tackle pressing environmental issues and ensure sustainable development along the river basin.
Regarding the private sector, Xi called on the ACFIC to guide businesses in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and bolstering confidence in development. He advocated for the establishment and improvement of modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features, enhancing the vitality and competitiveness of private enterprises.
