China's Ministry of Commerce announced on Monday that it remains open to communication with the European Union (EU) on issues related to intellectual property rights (IPR).
Earlier on the same day, the EU filed a complaint with the World Trade Organization (WTO) regarding China's judicial rulings on standard essential patent disputes.
In an online statement responding to media inquiries, the Ministry stated that China received the EU's consultation request on January 20.
The Ministry emphasized that China has consistently adhered to WTO rules and its commitments upon joining the organization. It highlighted continuous improvements in legislation and law enforcement concerning the protection of intellectual property rights, achievements that have been widely recognized.
China reiterated its readiness to handle subsequent matters in accordance with WTO rules and firmly safeguard its legitimate rights and interests.
