Firefighters Cook for Quake-Affected Villagers in Xizang’s Dingri County

More than a week after a magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Dingri County in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on January 7, the community of Cuo'ang Village in Quluo Town is finding solace in simple acts of kindness.

Firefighters from the Xizang Forest Firefighting Special Operations Unit have been actively assisting with resettlement and reconstruction efforts. Amidst their demanding duties, they are taking time to prepare lunch for the villagers affected by the quake.

\"We want to ensure that everyone is taken care of,\" said one of the firefighters. \"Providing a warm meal is a small way we can help bring comfort during this challenging time.\"

The village, nestled in the highlands of Xizang, has faced significant disruption due to the earthquake. Homes have been damaged, and daily life has been upended. The presence of the firefighters not only aids in physical recovery but also boosts the morale of the residents.

Our reporter, Zhao Chenchen, visited Cuo'ang Village to witness the firefighters' efforts firsthand. She observed how the team worked together to cook and serve meals, bringing a sense of normalcy and community to the villagers.

\"It's heartwarming to see the bond between the firefighters and the villagers,\" Zhao remarked. \"Their collaboration exemplifies resilience and unity in the face of adversity.\"

As resettlement and reconstruction continue, such acts of generosity exemplify the spirit of solidarity that is helping Cuo'ang Village recover from the disaster.
