Chinese Vice President Han Zheng Meets U.S. Business Leaders to Strengthen Ties

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with representatives of the U.S. business community on Sunday, emphasizing the importance of strengthening China-U.S. relations through mutual cooperation and investment. Han is in Washington D.C. to attend the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Monday as the special representative of President Xi Jinping.

During the meeting, Han expressed hope that U.S. companies will continue to invest and establish deeper roots in China. \"We hope that U.S. businesses will play an active role as a bridge and make greater contributions to the steady, sound, and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations,\" he stated.

Han highlighted the recent phone conversation between President Xi and President-elect Trump, noting that they reached important common understandings regarding the development of bilateral relations. \"China and the United States share broad common interests and vast potential for cooperation,\" Han said. \"Getting the bilateral relationship off to a good start and keeping it growing steadily serves the common well-being of our peoples and meets the expectations of the international community.\"

He acknowledged the U.S. business community as a vital participant and beneficiary of China-U.S. economic and trade cooperation, as well as China's reform and opening-up efforts. Han reassured that China will \"unswervingly advance its reform and opening-up efforts and continue to improve its business environment.\"

Representatives from the U.S.-China Business Council and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce attended the meeting. They expressed optimism about China's economic prospects and opportunities for development, noting that the recent dialogue between the two presidents sent a positive message. \"As the world's two most dynamic and technologically advanced economies, the U.S. and China should pursue mutually beneficial cooperation and work towards finding a constructive and stable way to coexist,\" they said.

On the same day, Han also met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Han welcomed U.S. companies like Tesla to seize opportunities arising from China's development. \"We welcome companies like Tesla to share in the fruits of China's development and contribute to promoting China-U.S. economic and trade relations,\" he noted.

Musk expressed readiness to deepen investment and cooperation with China, stating that Tesla aims to play an active role in promoting economic and trade exchanges between the two countries.
