China Affirms Open Dialogue with EU on Intellectual Property Issues

China's Ministry of Commerce announced on Monday that communication channels with the European Union (EU) regarding intellectual property (IP) issues remain open and active. This statement comes in response to the EU filing a complaint at the World Trade Organization (WTO) against China's judicial practices concerning standard essential patent disputes.

The Chinese ministry confirmed receipt of the EU's consultation request on January 20, emphasizing its commitment to addressing the matter through WTO mechanisms. In an online statement responding to media inquiries, the ministry highlighted China's strict adherence to WTO rules and its accession commitments.

\"China has continually improved legislation and law enforcement related to the protection of intellectual property rights, achieving widely recognized progress,\" the ministry stated. It reaffirmed that the country would handle subsequent matters in accordance with WTO regulations and is determined to firmly safeguard its legitimate rights and interests.

The ongoing dialogue reflects the complexities of international trade relations and the importance of collaborative approaches to resolving disputes over intellectual property—a critical component in the global economy.
