China’s Economic Influence Takes Center Stage at Davos 2025

China's economic prospects and development strategies were a key focus at the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2025 in Davos, as senior officials and global business leaders emphasized the country's pivotal role in the global economy.

Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang delivered a speech on Tuesday, highlighting China's economic trends and the nation's commitment to sustainable growth.

Ding outlined the trends shaping China's economy, including solid progress in high-quality development. He welcomed foreign enterprises to invest and do business in China, encouraging them to achieve greater success by sharing in the country's opportunities.

Zhu Min, a member of the Senior Expert Advisory Committee of the China Center for International Economic Exchanges, underscored the importance of strengthening China's manufacturing sector.

\"This is the key competitiveness of China's economy. China's manufacturing accounts for roughly 30.3 percent of the global GDP. It's equal to the total of the US, Japan, and South Korea together,\" Zhu said during the WEF sub-forum \"Decoding China's Economy: Present and Future.\"

\"So in the next 20 years, we'll make sure 'Made in China' means cheap, good, and high technology,\" he added.

Michael Suss, Executive Chairman of Oerlikon, commended China's impressive development over the past three decades.

\"We have to be aware that the world would not have created that wealth without the Chinese growth in the last 30 years,\" Suss noted.

Meanwhile, WEF Managing Director Mirek Dusek highlighted China's significant role in helping the global economy \"relaunch growth\" in the current environment.

\"China plays a very important role in that endeavor, on development, on trade as well as on technology,\" Dusek said in an interview with CGTN.
