Chinese President Xi Jinping has expressed his commitment to strengthening ties with Vietnam, as the two neighboring socialist countries celebrate the 75th anniversary of their diplomatic relations.
In messages exchanged with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong, Xi emphasized the importance of deepening strategic mutual trust and enhancing practical cooperation. He highlighted the goal of building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.
Xi noted the historical friendship between China and Vietnam, stating that since the establishment of diplomatic ties 75 years ago, the two nations have stood side by side in their struggles for national independence and liberation. \"So profound is the friendship between Vietnam and China, because we are both comrades and brothers,\" he remarked, describing it as the most vivid portrayal of the relations between the two parties and countries.
As socialist neighbors, China and Vietnam share common ideals and a vision for the future, which Xi described as the most striking feature of their bilateral relations. He recalled his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, during which both sides pledged to work towards a China-Vietnam community with a shared future, elevating their relationship to a new stage.
Amid unprecedented global changes, Xi stressed that the continued adherence to socialism by both countries has significant implications not only for their own futures but also for the global socialist cause, regional peace, and global prosperity. He expressed his willingness to work with Vietnamese leaders to seize the opportunity presented by the 75th anniversary and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges. Together, they aim to stay true to their original mission and advance on the path of socialist modernization, bringing greater benefits to their peoples and contributing to human development and progress.
