Firefighters Cook Lunch for Earthquake-Affected Villagers in Xizang

Compassion in Action: Firefighters Prepare Meals for Quake Survivors in Xizang

More than a week has passed since a magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Dingri County in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on January 7. The tremors left a trail of destruction, displacing residents and disrupting daily life. As resettlement and reconstruction efforts continue, stories of solidarity and resilience are emerging from the affected communities.

In the remote Cuo'ang Village of Quluo Town, members of the Xizang Forest Firefighting Special Operations Unit have taken on a role beyond their usual duties. Our reporter, Zhao Chenchen, joined these dedicated firefighters on the frontline as they swapped their firefighting gear for aprons and cooking utensils to prepare lunch for the villagers.

\"We are here not only to assist with rescue operations but also to support the community in any way we can,\" said squad leader Wang Lin. \"Preparing meals is a small gesture, but it brings comfort and a sense of normalcy to those affected.\"

The firefighters worked alongside local residents, turning fresh ingredients into hearty dishes. The aroma of home-cooked food filled the air, drawing smiles and grateful words from villagers who have endured significant hardship in the past days.

Resident Tashi, whose home was damaged in the quake, expressed his appreciation: \"Their help means so much to us. Sharing a meal together gives us strength to rebuild and move forward.\"

The collaborative effort highlights the strong community bonds and the commitment of first responders to go beyond their call of duty. As reconstruction progresses, such acts of kindness play a crucial role in healing and uniting the affected population.

The situation in Dingri County remains dynamic, with ongoing efforts to restore infrastructure and provide essential services. Support from various organizations and volunteers continues to pour in, embodying the spirit of unity in the face of adversity.
