Chinese Vice President Han Zheng Strengthens China-U.S. Ties in Meetings with U.S. Business Leaders

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with key U.S. business leaders on Sunday in Washington D.C., aiming to strengthen China-U.S. ties and encourage continued investment in the Chinese mainland.

Han is visiting the United States to attend the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Monday as Chinese President Xi Jinping's special representative.

During the meetings, Han emphasized the importance of U.S. companies continuing to invest and establish roots in China. He expressed hope that they would play an active role as a bridge between the two nations and contribute to the steady, sound, and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations.

Representatives from the U.S.-China Business Council and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce were among the U.S. business community members in attendance.

Han highlighted that President Xi and President-elect Trump recently reached important common understandings regarding the development of China-U.S. relations during a phone call. He underscored the broad common interests and vast potential for cooperation between the two countries.

Han praised the U.S. business community as the backbone of China-U.S. relations, acknowledging their role as participants, witnesses, contributors, and beneficiaries of bilateral economic and trade cooperation, as well as China's reform and opening-up drive. He assured that China will unswervingly advance its reform and opening-up efforts and continue to improve its business environment.

U.S. business leaders responded positively, noting that the recent phone conversation between Trump and Xi sent a positive, encouraging message. They emphasized that, as the world's two most dynamic and technologically advanced economies, the United States and China should pursue mutually beneficial cooperation and work towards finding a constructive and stable way to coexist.

The U.S. business community expressed optimism about China's economic prospects and development opportunities, supporting strengthened dialogue and communication to continue advancing bilateral relations and economic and trade cooperation.

Han Zheng also met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk. He welcomed U.S. companies, including Tesla, to seize opportunities to share in China's development and contribute to promoting China-U.S. economic and trade relations.

Musk expressed readiness to deepen Tesla's investment and cooperation with China and to play an active role in promoting economic and trade exchanges between the two countries.

Han Zheng's meetings with U.S. business leaders demonstrate China's commitment to strengthening partnerships and fostering mutual growth with the United States. As both nations navigate the evolving global landscape, these engagements underscore the potential for collaboration and the shared interest in maintaining a stable and prosperous bilateral relationship.
