Xi Jinping Extends Spring Festival Greetings to Non-CPC Personages

BEIJING — In a grand gathering at the Great Hall of the People on Monday, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended warm Spring Festival greetings to representatives of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), and personages without party affiliation. The Spring Festival, also known as the Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year.

Addressing the assembly, Xi, who is also Chinese President and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration in driving China's development goals forward. He highlighted the country's commitment to implementing more proactive and impactful macro policies, focusing on high-quality development, and promoting greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology to ensure sustained social and economic progress in 2025.

"We must harness the unique strengths of all sectors to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength," Xi stated. He called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to concentrate on central tasks and serve the nation's overarching interests.

Xi underscored the significance of achieving the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025) and laying a solid foundation for the subsequent five years. He encouraged non-CPC personages to mobilize all positive forces to advance development, actively contribute to comprehensive reforms, promote high-quality development, and participate in formulating proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).

Addressing environmental concerns, Xi stressed the need to tackle critical and challenging issues in supervising the protection of the Yangtze River ecosystem. He urged concerted efforts to preserve this vital waterway for future generations.

Xi also highlighted the role of the ACFIC in guiding the private sector. He called on them to maintain enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, bolster confidence in development, and work towards establishing and improving modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features.

The annual gathering ahead of the Spring Festival serves as a significant platform for dialogue and cooperation between the CPC and non-CPC entities. It reflects China's commitment to inclusivity and collaborative governance as the nation progresses toward its development milestones.
