Firefighters Prepare Lunch for Earthquake-Affected Villagers in Xizang

More than a week has passed since a magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Dingri County in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on January 7. The quake left many villagers displaced and in need of assistance as resettlement and reconstruction efforts continue.

In the midst of recovery, the firefighters of the Xizang Forest Firefighting Special Operations Unit have taken on more than just their usual duties. At Cuo'ang Village in Quluo Town, Dingri County, these dedicated individuals are rolling up their sleeves in the village's temporary communal area, preparing hot meals for the affected residents.

\"We want to ensure that the villagers not only have shelter but also warm meals to keep up their strength during this difficult time,\" said a member of the firefighting unit.

The aroma of freshly cooked food fills the air as firefighters stir large pots over open flames. Villagers, many of whom lost their homes, gather around, grateful for the support and camaraderie provided by these frontline heroes.

Reporter Zhao Chenchen, on the ground in Cuo'ang Village, witnessed firsthand the resilience and solidarity of the community. \"Despite the hardships, the spirit here is one of hope and unity,\" Zhao observed. \"The firefighters are not only aiding in recovery efforts but are also bringing comfort to the villagers through simple acts of kindness like cooking meals.\"

The collaborative efforts between the firefighters and the villagers exemplify the strong communal bonds and the collective determination to rebuild. While challenges remain, such moments of humanity offer a glimpse into the unwavering spirit of the people of Xizang.
