Firefighters in Xizang Cook Lunch for Earthquake-Affected Villagers

More than a week has passed since a magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Dingri County in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on January 7. As resettlement and reconstruction efforts continue, a heartwarming scene is unfolding in Cuo'ang Village, Quluo Town.

Firefighters from the Xizang Forest Firefighting Special Operations Unit have taken on a new role beyond their emergency duties—they are cooking lunch for the villagers affected by the quake. Amid the chilly mountain air, the aroma of freshly prepared meals brings comfort to a community striving to rebuild.

Our reporter, Zhao Chenchen, visited the village and witnessed the firefighters preparing hearty dishes over open flames. \"We want to do more than just disaster relief; we aim to bring warmth and hope to the people,\" said one of the firefighters as he stirred a large pot of stew.

The villagers, many of whom have lost their homes, expressed gratitude for the firefighters' kindness. \"Their support means a lot to us during these challenging times,\" said a resident of Cuo'ang Village. \"These meals not only fill our stomachs but also lift our spirits.\"

The collaborative efforts between the firefighters and the community highlight the resilience and solidarity of the people in Xizang. As reconstruction efforts progress, acts of compassion like these play a crucial role in healing and uniting the affected areas.
