Han Zheng Meets U.S. Business Leaders to Strengthen China-U.S. Ties

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng expressed hope on Sunday that U.S. companies will continue to invest and establish deeper roots in China, contributing to the steady, sound, and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations.

Han made these remarks while meeting with representatives from the U.S.-China Business Council and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington D.C. He is in the United States to attend the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Monday as the special representative of Chinese President Xi Jinping.

During the meeting, Han highlighted the important common understandings reached by President Xi and U.S. President-elect Donald Trump regarding the advancement of China-U.S. relations during a recent phone call.

Noting the broad common interests and vast potential for cooperation between China and the United States, Han emphasized that initiating the bilateral relationship positively and maintaining its steady growth serves the well-being of both peoples and meets the expectations of the international community.

Han acknowledged the U.S. business community as the backbone of China-U.S. relations, calling it a participant, witness, contributor, and beneficiary of bilateral economic and trade cooperation as well as China's reform and opening-up drive.

\"China will unswervingly advance its reform and opening-up efforts and continue to improve its business environment,\" Han stated.

Representatives of the U.S. business community welcomed the positive and encouraging message from the recent conversation between President Xi and President-elect Trump. They expressed optimism about China's economic prospects and development opportunities, supporting strengthened dialogue and communication to advance bilateral relations and economic and trade cooperation.

On the same day, Han also met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

He noted that China welcomes U.S. companies, including Tesla, to seize opportunities and share in the fruits of China's development, making greater contributions to promoting China-U.S. economic and trade relations.

Musk expressed readiness to deepen investment and cooperation with China and to play an active role in promoting economic and trade exchanges between the United States and China.
