Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with representatives of the U.S. business community in Washington D.C. on Sunday, emphasizing the importance of strengthening China-U.S. relations through economic cooperation.
During his visit to attend the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Monday as the special representative of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Han engaged with leaders from the U.S.-China Business Council and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. He expressed hope that American companies would continue to invest and establish roots in China, acting as a bridge to foster stable and sustainable bilateral relations.
\"The recent conversation between President Xi and President-elect Trump has laid a solid foundation for the future development of China-U.S. relations,\" Han stated. \"We share broad common interests and vast potential for cooperation. Getting our relationship off to a good start serves the well-being of our peoples and meets the expectations of the international community.\"
Han highlighted the vital role of the U.S. business community as participants, witnesses, contributors, and beneficiaries of China's reform and opening-up. He reaffirmed China's commitment to advancing these efforts and improving the business environment for overseas investors.
Representatives from the U.S. business community responded positively, noting that the recent phone conversation between Trump and Xi sent an encouraging message. They emphasized the importance of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two nations.

In addition to meeting with business groups, Han also held discussions with Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Han welcomed Tesla's continued investment in China and its role in promoting economic and trade exchanges between the two countries.
Musk expressed enthusiasm for deepening Tesla's cooperation with China, stating, \"We are committed to expanding our presence and investment in China and look forward to contributing to the growth of China-U.S. economic ties.\"
