Han Zheng Meets U.S. Business Leaders to Strengthen China-U.S. Ties

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng expressed hope on Sunday that U.S. companies will continue to invest and establish deeper roots in the Chinese mainland. Speaking in Washington D.C., Han emphasized the importance of U.S. businesses acting as a bridge to enhance cooperation and contribute to the steady, sound, and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations.

Han made these remarks during meetings with representatives from the U.S. business community, including members of the U.S.-China Business Council and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. He is attending the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump as President Xi Jinping's special representative, at the invitation of the United States.

Highlighting recent communications, Han noted that President Xi and President-elect Trump reached important common understandings on advancing China-U.S. relations during a phone conversation. He underscored that both nations share broad common interests and possess vast potential for cooperation.

\"Getting the bilateral relationship off to a good start and keeping it growing steadily serves the common well-being of the peoples of both countries and meets the expectations of the international community,\" Han stated.

He acknowledged the U.S. business community as a backbone of China-U.S. relations, lauding it as a participant, witness, contributor, and beneficiary of bilateral economic and trade cooperation as well as China's reform and opening-up efforts. Han assured that China will continue to advance these reforms and improve its business environment.

Representatives of the U.S. business community expressed optimism following the recent positive and encouraging phone conversation between Trump and Xi. They emphasized that as the world's two most dynamic and technologically advanced economies, the United States and China should pursue mutually beneficial cooperation and work towards a constructive and stable coexistence.

The business leaders voiced their support for strengthening dialogue and communication to further advance bilateral relations and economic and trade cooperation. They conveyed their optimism about China's economic prospects and the opportunities it presents for development.

On the same day, Han also met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Han welcomed U.S. companies like Tesla to seize opportunities in China and share in the fruits of its development. He encouraged greater contributions to promoting economic and trade relations between the two nations.

Musk expressed readiness to deepen Tesla's investment and cooperation with China, committing to play an active role in fostering economic and trade exchanges between the United States and China.
