Chinese President Xi Jinping, who is also the general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, extended festive greetings on Monday to members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front ahead of the Spring Festival.

During an annual gathering at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Xi conveyed his best wishes as the nation prepares to celebrate the Spring Festival, also known as the Chinese Lunar New Year, which falls on January 29 this year.

In his address, Xi emphasized China's commitment to implementing more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies. He highlighted the focus on high-quality development and the promotion of greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology to sustain robust social and economic growth in 2025.

Xi called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to concentrate on central tasks, serve the country's overarching interests, and leverage their unique strengths. He urged them to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength to contribute to the nation's development goals.

Underscoring the importance of achieving the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025) by 2025, Xi stressed the need to lay a solid foundation for the next five years. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, actively contribute to deepening reforms, promote high-quality development, and formulate proposals for the upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).

Addressing environmental concerns, Xi highlighted the necessity of tackling critical and challenging problems in the supervision of the Yangtze River ecosystem's protection. He emphasized that safeguarding the environment is integral to the nation's sustainable development.

Xi also noted that the ACFIC should guide the private sector in sustaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, bolstering confidence in development, and establishing and improving modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features.
