Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed his readiness on Saturday to work alongside Vietnamese leaders to deepen strategic mutual trust, strengthen practical cooperation, and pursue new achievements in building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future of strategic significance.
Xi, who is also the general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, shared these sentiments in messages exchanged with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee To Lam and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong, marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Vietnam.
“China and Vietnam, as friendly socialist neighbors, form a community with a shared future that carries strategic importance,” Xi stated. He reflected on the 75 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties, emphasizing that the two nations have fought side by side and supported each other in their quests for national independence and liberation.
“So profound is the friendship between Vietnam and China, because we are both comrades and brothers,” Xi quoted, highlighting the deep bond between the two parties and countries. He noted that in advancing socialism, the two sides have learned from each other and progressed hand in hand, thereby deepening their comprehensive strategic cooperation.
Xi recalled his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, during which both sides pledged to work towards a China-Vietnam community with a shared future of strategic significance, elevating the relations between the two parties and countries to a new level.
Amid unprecedented global changes, Xi emphasized that China and Vietnam’s continued commitment to the socialist path affects not only the future of the two parties and countries but also has significant implications for the global socialist cause, regional peace and stability, and worldwide development and prosperity.
He underscored his commitment to the growth of bilateral relations and expressed his willingness to work with Vietnamese leaders to seize the opportunity of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges. “Keeping in mind our original mission, we should forge ahead on the new journey toward socialist modernization, delivering greater benefits to our peoples and contributing significantly to revitalizing the global socialist cause and advancing human development and progress,” Xi said.
