In anticipation of the upcoming Spring Festival, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended festive greetings to members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front.
On Monday, during an annual gathering at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Xi, also the Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, emphasized the importance of unity and collective effort in achieving the nation’s development goals. The Spring Festival, or Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year.
In his address, Xi underscored China’s commitment to implementing more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies. He stressed the need to focus on high-quality development and to promote greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology to sustain sound social and economic progress in 2025.
Xi called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to align with the central tasks and serve the country’s overall interests. He encouraged them to leverage their unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength for the nation’s development.
Highlighting the significance of the concluding year of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025), Xi emphasized the importance of achieving the set targets in 2025 and laying a solid foundation for the next five years. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, contribute to comprehensively deepening reform, promote high-quality development, and formulate proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
Xi also stressed the need to address critical and challenging problems in the supervision of the Yangtze River ecosystem’s protection. He pointed out that safeguarding the environment is a shared responsibility that requires concerted efforts.
Addressing the role of the private sector, Xi noted that the ACFIC should guide private enterprises in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and bolstering confidence in development. He urged them to establish and improve modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features.
As the nation prepares to celebrate the Spring Festival, Xi’s message highlighted the collective efforts required to propel China towards a prosperous future, emphasizing unity, development, and shared responsibility among all sectors of society.
