On Saturday, President Xi, who is also the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, exchanged congratulations with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee To Lam and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong on the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

“China and Vietnam, as friendly socialist neighbors, represent a community with a shared future that carries strategic significance,” President Xi stated.

He highlighted the profound friendship forged over 75 years, noting that the two countries have stood side by side, supporting each other in their struggles for national independence and liberation. “So profound is the friendship between Vietnam and China because we are both comrades and brothers,” he added, reflecting the deep bonds between the parties and countries.

In the face of unprecedented global changes, President Xi underscored the significance of China and Vietnam continuing to follow the path of socialism. He noted that this has a bearing not only on the future of the two parties and countries but also on the broader global socialist cause, contributing to peace, stability, development, and prosperity in the region and the world.

Expressing his dedication to the growth of bilateral relations, President Xi stated his willingness to work with Vietnamese leaders to seize the opportunity presented by the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges. He urged both sides to remember their original mission and forge ahead on the journey toward socialist modernization, aiming to deliver greater benefits to their peoples and make significant contributions to human development and progress.
