Beijing, January 28 — Chinese President Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, extended festive greetings to non-CPC personages ahead of the Spring Festival, which falls on January 29 this year.
During an annual gathering at the Great Hall of the People, Xi Jinping met with members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front. He expressed his heartfelt wishes for the Lunar New Year, emphasizing the importance of unity and collaboration in China’s development.
"We will implement more proactive and impactful macro policies, focus on high-quality development, and promote greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology to sustain sound social and economic development in 2025," Xi said.
He called on non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to leverage their unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength. Xi underscored the significance of achieving the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025) and laying a solid foundation for the next five years.
Highlighting key areas of focus, Xi expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, contribute to comprehensively deepening reform, promote high-quality development, and formulate proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
Addressing environmental concerns, Xi stressed the need to tackle critical challenges in the supervision of the Yangtze River ecosystem’s protection. He urged concerted efforts to ensure ecological sustainability and balance economic growth with environmental stewardship.
With regard to the private sector, Xi called on the ACFIC to guide private enterprises in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, bolstering confidence in development, and establishing and improving modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features.
