More than a week has passed since a magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Dingri County in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region on January 7. The tremor left many residents displaced and in need of assistance. Resettlement and reconstruction efforts are ongoing as the community works towards recovery.
In the heart of Cuo'ang Village, Quluo Town, the firefighters of the Xizang Forest Firefighting Special Operations Unit are going beyond their call of duty. Our reporter, Zhao Chenchen, visited the village to find these brave individuals not only safeguarding the area but also preparing lunch for the affected villagers.
The aroma of freshly cooked food fills the air as firefighters carefully stir large pots over open flames. "We want to do everything we can to help the villagers feel at home again," said one firefighter. "A warm meal can bring comfort in difficult times."
Villagers expressed gratitude for the support. "They have been here since the earthquake, helping us in so many ways," said a resident of Cuo'ang Village. "Their kindness gives us hope."
The collaborative efforts between the firefighters and the local community exemplify the resilience and solidarity critical in times of crisis. As reconstruction progresses, acts of compassion like these continue to make a significant difference in the lives of those affected.
