In an exclusive interview with CGTN’s Global Business, Severin Podolak, Head of Event Management and Operations at the World Economic Forum (WEF), emphasized that sustainability and diversity are at the core of this year’s event in Davos. Podolak highlighted the WEF’s efforts to “reduce, reuse and recycle,” implementing measures such as subsidizing participants who traveled by public transportation.
“We believe in leading by example,” Podolak stated. “By encouraging sustainable travel options, we’re not only reducing our carbon footprint but also promoting responsible practices among global leaders.”
The 2024 Davos Forum also focused on broadening representation. “We’ve brought in diverse perspectives from various regions, industries, and opinions,” Podolak said. “This diversity ensures that discussions are holistic and that solutions are inclusive.”
The WEF’s commitment to sustainability and diversity reflects a growing global emphasis on these values, aiming to address complex economic and social challenges through collaborative efforts.
