Xi Jinping Calls for Strengthening China-Vietnam Community with Shared Future

Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for stronger ties with Vietnam to build a community with a shared future of strategic significance. In a message exchanged on Saturday with Vietnamese leaders General Secretary To Lam and President Luong Cuong, Xi emphasized his readiness to deepen strategic mutual trust and enhance practical cooperation between the two nations.

Marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Vietnam, Xi highlighted the profound friendship forged over decades. “Since the establishment of diplomatic ties 75 years ago, our two countries have fought side by side and supported each other in the struggle for national independence and liberation,” he stated. “China and Vietnam, as friendly socialist neighbors, represent a community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.”

Xi recalled his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, during which both sides committed to advancing a China-Vietnam community with a shared future. He noted that this pledge has elevated the relationship between the two parties and countries to a new stage. “As unprecedented changes unfold in the world, our continued commitment to the path of socialism holds great importance for the future of our parties and nations, as well as for global peace, stability, development, and prosperity,” Xi said.

The Chinese president expressed his commitment to working with Vietnamese leaders to seize the opportunity presented by the 75th anniversary and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges. “Let us keep in mind our original mission and forge ahead on the new journey toward socialist modernization, delivering greater benefits to our peoples and contributing significantly to the global socialist cause and human development,” he urged.
