The first Global Mayors Dialogue of 2025 is set to take place in January in Nanning City, the vibrant capital of south China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
Mayors from cities across China and ASEAN countries will gather to explore innovative ways to drive green transitions and enhance environmental protection throughout the region. This landmark event underscores a shared commitment to addressing ecological challenges and promoting sustainable development.
China and ASEAN nations share common environmental issues, including climate change, pollution, and biodiversity loss. However, this shared challenge also presents significant opportunities for collaboration, particularly in biodiversity conservation and ecological sustainability.
“Our cities are the frontlines in the battle against environmental degradation,” said a spokesperson for the organizing committee. “By uniting our efforts, we can implement effective strategies that benefit the entire region.”
The dialogue aims to foster regional cooperation, strengthen ties, and encourage collective action towards a sustainable future. Topics on the agenda include renewable energy integration, sustainable urban planning, and cross-border environmental initiatives.
Participants are expected to develop actionable plans that address immediate environmental concerns while laying the groundwork for long-term ecological resilience. The event marks a significant step forward in regional efforts to promote environmental sustainability and combat shared ecological challenges.
