Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Attend D-8 Summit in Egypt

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is set to attend the upcoming D-8 summit in Egypt, according to statements made by Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei on Tuesday.

The D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation, comprising eight major Muslim developing countries, will convene its summit on Thursday in Cairo. The group includes Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Turkey.

President Pezeshkian’s participation marks a significant step in Iran’s commitment to fostering economic collaboration with fellow member nations. The summit aims to enhance cooperation in various sectors, including trade, agriculture, industry, and energy.

“President Pezeshkian’s presence at the summit underscores our dedication to strengthening ties with other Muslim nations and pursuing mutual economic growth,” Baghaei stated during a press briefing.

The D-8 organization was established in 1997 to promote economic development and create new opportunities in the global economy for its member states. The summit in Egypt is expected to address key issues such as sustainable development, poverty alleviation, and the enhancement of trade relations among member countries.

This visit also presents an opportunity for Iran and Egypt to engage in bilateral discussions, potentially paving the way for improved relations between the two nations.
