China Coast Guard Monitors Philippine Supply Mission at Ren’ai Jiao

The China Coast Guard (CCG) has monitored a recent Philippine supply mission to a grounded military ship at Ren’ai Jiao in the South China Sea, according to a briefing by CCG spokesperson Liu Dejun on Tuesday.

With China’s permission, the Philippines dispatched a civilian vessel on Thursday to deliver supplies to its illegally grounded military ship on Ren’ai Jiao. The CCG inquired about the vessel’s activities and maintained oversight throughout the operation, Liu said.

“We hope the Philippine side will honor its commitments, work together with China, and jointly manage the maritime situation,” Liu expressed, emphasizing the importance of cooperation between the two sides.

Liu reiterated that the CCG will continue to carry out law enforcement activities to safeguard China’s rights in the Nansha Qundao and surrounding waters, including Ren’ai Jiao.
