The China Coast Guard (CCG) has urged the Philippines to immediately cease what it describes as provocative actions in the waters around Houteng Jiao in China’s Nansha Qundao. On Monday, a spokesperson for the CCG announced that necessary control measures have been taken against Philippine vessels that were allegedly gathering illegally under the guise of fishing.
The CCG stated that the Philippine vessels were operating in areas under China’s jurisdiction and that their activities violated Chinese sovereignty. The spokesperson emphasized that the CCG will continue to safeguard China’s maritime rights and interests in accordance with the law.
The CCG called on the Philippines to respect China’s sovereignty and abide by relevant international laws and agreements to maintain peace and stability in the region.
