Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Moroccan Crown Prince Moulay Hassan on Thursday during a technical stop in Casablanca, following his state visit to Brazil. The meeting marked a significant step in bolstering the strategic partnership between China and Morocco.

President Xi conveyed his warm regards and best wishes to King Mohammed VI, highlighting the solid foundation and fruitful cooperation between the two nations. “China is ready to continue working with Morocco to firmly support each other on issues concerning our respective core interests,” Xi stated.

He recalled the productive talks held during King Mohammed VI’s state visit to China in 2016, which elevated bilateral relations to a new level. Xi emphasized China’s commitment to working with Morocco to implement the outcomes of the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and the 10th Ministerial Conference of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum. He also expressed a desire to deepen collaboration under the Belt and Road Initiative and enhance cultural exchanges to strengthen the goodwill between the Chinese and Moroccan peoples.

Crown Prince Moulay Hassan, conveying King Mohammed VI’s sincere greetings, expressed gratitude for China’s support during the COVID-19 pandemic. He affirmed Morocco’s dedication to strengthening ties with China through enhanced high-level exchanges and deeper cooperation across various sectors.

“Chinese language and culture are gaining popularity in Morocco,” the crown prince noted, expressing hope to further enhance cultural exchanges between the two nations. He emphasized the alignment of their positions on many issues and Morocco’s willingness to firmly support safeguarding national sovereignty, security, and stability.

The meeting underscored the shared commitment of China and Morocco to advancing their strategic partnership, reinforcing cooperation, and promoting mutual development and prosperity.
