Chancay Port Inauguration Heralds Shared Prosperity, Says Peruvian Scholar

The inauguration of Chancay Port, a landmark project under the China-Peru Belt and Road cooperation, marks a significant milestone in fostering economic growth and connectivity in South America. Leaders from China and Peru officiated the opening ceremony on Thursday, signaling a new era of bilateral collaboration.

Carlos Aquino, a professor of economics at the National University of San Marcos, shared his insights on the port’s potential impact in an interview with China Media Group. “Chancay Port is more than just an infrastructure project; it’s a catalyst for shared prosperity across the region,” Aquino remarked.

The port is strategically positioned to enhance trade routes, reduce shipping times, and lower transportation costs for many South American countries. “By facilitating smoother trade flows between Asia and South America, Chancay Port will play a pivotal role in boosting economic activities and creating new opportunities for businesses and investors alike,” Aquino added.

He emphasized the importance of international cooperation in achieving sustainable development. “This project exemplifies how countries can work together to build infrastructure that benefits not just themselves but the wider global community,” he said.

With its state-of-the-art facilities, Chancay Port is expected to become a key maritime hub, strengthening Peru’s position in international trade and contributing to the overall economic integration of the region.
