Taiwan Youth Engage in Cross-Straits Winter Camp in Beijing

An air of excitement filled Beijing on Tuesday as around 300 youths from Taiwan region arrived for a winter camp aimed at fostering cultural exchange and mutual understanding across the Taiwan Strait.

The opening ceremony was a vibrant affair, featuring a cross-Straits youth gala that celebrated the shared heritage and traditions of both sides. The participants, brimming with enthusiasm, are set to embark on a journey through 17 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities, including Heilongjiang, Inner Mongolia, Hebei, Chongqing, Gansu, Ningxia, and Xinjiang.

During the camp, the youths will dive into a variety of themed activities such as ice and snow sports, exploring New Year’s customs, and delving into the rich history and culture of the mainland. These experiences are designed to deepen their connection with Chinese culture and foster friendships with their mainland peers.

On the opening day, the All-China Federation of Taiwan Compatriots organized cultural lectures and cross-Straits youth film exchanges at prestigious institutions like Peking University and Beijing Film Academy. These events provided the campers with insights into contemporary developments and artistic expressions within the mainland.

As the campers explore Beijing, they will visit iconic historical sites and cultural institutions such as the Palace Museum, the Badaling Great Wall, and the National Museum of China. Through these visits, they will gain a deeper appreciation for the nation's heritage and the stories that have shaped its identity.

This winter camp not only offers a platform for personal growth and cultural immersion but also serves as a bridge connecting the youth of Taiwan region with the mainland, strengthening ties and promoting a shared future.
