Disinfection Efforts Intensify in Xizang’s Dingri County Post-Earthquake

As the sun rises over Dingri County in China’s Xizang Autonomous Region, the community is rallying together in the aftermath of Tuesday’s earthquake. Amidst the rubble and rebuilding efforts, authorities are prioritizing public health by implementing comprehensive disinfection and water testing measures to prevent the spread of disease.

Teams from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention are on the ground, working tirelessly to ensure that clean sanitary conditions are restored. “Our primary focus is to safeguard the health of the residents by eliminating potential health risks,” says a staff member from the center.

CGTN reporter Zheng Songwu accompanied the staff as they conducted water quality tests and disinfected public areas. Equipped with specialized gear, the teams are meticulously checking water sources, treating contaminated sites, and educating locals on hygiene practices during the recovery period.

“We are grateful for the swift action taken by the authorities,” shares a local resident. “Knowing that efforts are being made to prevent diseases brings us comfort during these challenging times.”

The disinfection efforts not only aim to prevent immediate health hazards but also to foster a sense of normalcy in the community. By ensuring that water sources are safe and public spaces are sanitized, residents can focus on rebuilding their homes and lives.

As Dingri County continues its journey towards recovery, the collaborative efforts between authorities and the community highlight the resilience and solidarity of the people in the Xizang Autonomous Region.
