China’s National Health Commission announced on Sunday that influenza infections across the Chinese mainland are expected to decline in the second half of January. This prediction comes despite a recent slight increase in cases.
In the first week of 2025, the rate of influenza infections detected in outpatient and emergency hospital departments increased by 3.8% compared to the previous week. Officials noted that this rate remains lower than the same period last year, indicating a less severe flu season.
Wang Liping, a researcher with the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, emphasized that there has been no emergence of new infectious diseases. \
