Yabuli, a renowned winter sports hub located about 190 kilometers from Harbin, is meticulously preparing to host the cross-country skiing events for the upcoming Asian Winter Games in February.
Over the weekend, the Yabuli Sports Training Base underwent comprehensive test events to examine competition venues and readiness. A total of 28 athletes participated in the two-day simulated competition, testing routes of 1.3 and 2.5 kilometers. These events served as a thorough drill not only for the athletes but also for technical staff, medical personnel, umpires, and media operations teams.
Organizers are striving to meet international standards in all aspects of the competition. With experts who have experience from successfully hosting the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics on hand, the training base is focusing on delivering world-class facilities and operations.
The Asian Winter Games will feature 64 events across six sports. Yabuli will be the stage for 32 snow events, highlighting its significance in the continental showpiece. The preparations in Yabuli underscore China’s commitment to promoting winter sports and fostering athletic excellence ahead of this major sporting event.
