The appointments were made in accordance with a decision by the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, China’s top legislature, and were announced in an official statement released on Thursday.
Deng Li has been appointed as the new ambassador to France and Monaco, taking over from Lu Shaye. Deng’s extensive experience in international relations is expected to bolster China’s ties with these European nations.
Xiao Junzheng will assume the role of ambassador to Israel, succeeding Cai Run. His appointment comes at a time when China is seeking to deepen its engagement in the Middle East.
Zhang Wei replaces Peng Jingtao as the ambassador to Benin, aiming to strengthen China’s partnership with African nations.
Dai Bing has been appointed ambassador to the Republic of Korea, taking over from Xing Haiming. This move is significant amid ongoing efforts to enhance cooperation on regional security and economic development.
Jiang Xuebin will serve as the new ambassador to Türkiye, replacing Liu Shaobin. His appointment reflects China’s intention to reinforce diplomatic and economic ties with Turkey.
The reshuffle also includes appointments to several other countries:
- Lyu Jian as ambassador to Oman, succeeding Li Lingbing.
- Dong Guangli as ambassador to Algeria, replacing Li Jian.
- Tang Zhongdong as ambassador to Mauritania, taking over from Li Baijun.
- Guo Haiyan as ambassador to Kenya, succeeding Zhou Pingjian.
- Han Chunlin as ambassador to Kazakhstan, replacing Zhang Xiao.
- Liu Jiangping as ambassador to Kyrgyzstan, taking over from Du Dewen.
- Li Fan as ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, succeeding Ji Ping.
These diplomatic changes underscore China’s ongoing efforts to enhance its international relationships and expand cooperation across various regions, including Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
