China has warmly congratulated Indonesia on becoming a full member of BRICS, according to a spokesperson from the foreign ministry on Monday.
Brazil, serving as the BRICS chair this year, released a statement announcing Indonesia’s accession to full membership in BRICS, garnering widespread attention from the international community.
The spokesperson highlighted Indonesia’s role as a major developing country and an important force in the Global South. Indonesia has been recognized for its strong alignment with the BRICS spirit and its active participation in “BRICS Plus” cooperation initiatives.
“Indonesia’s official entry into BRICS serves the common interests of BRICS countries and the Global South,” the spokesperson stated. “We believe that Indonesia will make active contributions to the development of BRICS.”
The spokesperson emphasized that BRICS is a main platform for promoting solidarity and cooperation in the Global South and a major force driving the reform of the global governance system. BRICS countries are committed to multilateralism, fairness, justice, and common development. The inclusion of Indonesia follows the historic trend of the collective rise of the Global South.
China expressed readiness to work alongside Indonesia and other BRICS members to build a more comprehensive, close, practical, and inclusive partnership. The goal is to advance the high-quality development of greater BRICS cooperation and contribute significantly to building a community with a shared future for mankind.
