Following in the footsteps of her father and grandfather, Gulbakram felt a deep-rooted calling to continue the legacy of protecting Jiaohe.

After studying history and heritage protection at university, Gulbakram returned to her hometown with a mission. As a cultural relics guardian at the Jiaohe site, she dedicates her days to preserving the ruins for future generations. “It’s not just about safeguarding stones and walls,” she says. “It’s about keeping the stories and mysteries of our past alive.”

“Every time I walk through the ruins, I feel a connection to my ancestors and to all those who once called this place home,” she reflects. “I want everyone to experience that sense of wonder and responsibility.”
