Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday praised the “One Country, Two Systems” policy as a great success in the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR). Speaking at a gathering celebrating the 25th anniversary of Macao’s return to China, President Xi acknowledged the achievements and stability that the region has enjoyed under this governance framework.

The event also marked the inauguration ceremony of the sixth-term government of Macao SAR. President Xi emphasized the importance of the “One Country, Two Systems” principle, highlighting its role in fostering prosperity and stability in Macao since its return in 1999.

“The practice of ‘One Country, Two Systems’ in Macao has been a great success,” President Xi remarked. His comments underscored the central government’s support for the region’s continued development within this unique governance model.
