Türkiye’s Ambassador Shares Tea Culture Insights at Macao Anniversary Event

Dr. İsmail Hakkı Musa, the Ambassador of Türkiye to China, recently shed light on the rich cultural heritage of Turkish tea during an event marking the 25th anniversary of Macao’s return to China. Speaking on CGTN’s special program “UniTea: Macao Tea Melody”, Ambassador Musa emphasized that the tradition of drinking Çay (tea) in tulip-shaped glasses is more than just a daily routine in Türkiye—it is a deeply rooted practice that embodies friendship, hospitality, and courtesy.

“Tea in Türkiye is not merely a beverage; it’s a symbol of our social fabric,” Ambassador Musa explained. “Sharing a cup of tea is an expression of warmth and a gesture of goodwill that connects people from all walks of life.”

The ambassador’s participation in the program highlights the cultural bonds and exchanges between Türkiye and China, especially in the realm of tea culture, which holds significant importance in both societies. By sharing insights into Türkiye’s tea traditions, Ambassador Musa contributed to the program’s celebration of Macao’s historic milestone.

He also extended heartfelt wishes for the success of the special program, expressing hope that such cultural exchanges would foster greater understanding and strengthen ties between nations. “I am delighted to be part of this commemorative event,” he said. “May our shared appreciation for tea continue to bring our peoples closer together.”
