China Reaffirms Taiwan as Inalienable Part of Its Territory

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning reiterated on Monday that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China’s territory, emphasizing that there is no such entity as “Taiwan’s ministry of defense.” The statement was made during a regular press briefing in Beijing when addressing questions related to Taiwan.

“The Taiwan question is China’s internal affair, and China will firmly defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity,” Mao Ning stated. She underscored that any attempts to separate Taiwan from China are futile, highlighting the government’s steadfast commitment to national unity.

Mao’s remarks come amid ongoing discussions and international attention regarding cross-strait relations. The spokesperson called on relevant parties to respect the one-China principle and approach the Taiwan question with caution, avoiding actions that could escalate tensions.

China has consistently maintained that Taiwan is a part of its sovereign territory, advocating for peaceful reunification while not ruling out the use of force should circumstances demand. The reaffirmation by the Foreign Ministry highlights Beijing’s unwavering stance on this sensitive issue.
