China Urges U.S. to Respect Market Economy and Fair Competition

China has called on the United States to respect the laws of the market economy and the principle of fair competition. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian made the remarks at a regular press briefing in Beijing on Tuesday.

Responding to a question about the latest U.S. export controls on semiconductors targeting China, Lin Jian stated, “We urge the U.S. to adhere to market economy principles and fair competition rules, and to stop politicizing and weaponizing economic and trade issues.”

Lin emphasized that such measures not only harm the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies but also disrupt global industrial and supply chains. “These actions are not conducive to China-U.S. relations and will ultimately harm the interests of companies and consumers in both countries,” he added.

The spokesperson called for dialogue and cooperation, stressing that open and fair trade practices are essential for the stability of the global economy. “China is willing to work with all parties to create a fair, just, and non-discriminatory market environment,” Lin said.
