China and Hungary Vow to Deepen Bilateral Cooperation and Strengthen China-EU Relations

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto in Beijing on Tuesday, emphasizing the commitment of both nations to enhance bilateral cooperation and promote a healthy and stable China-European Union (EU) relationship.

During the talks, the two leaders highlighted the historic elevation of China-Hungary relations to an all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership for a new era, established in May. This significant step underscores the deepening ties and mutual trust between the two countries.

Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, praised Hungary for being the first European country to sign a cooperation document on the Belt and Road Initiative with China. He noted that the fruitful results of their practical cooperation demonstrate that mutual respect, trust, and support in economic endeavors open vast prospects for both nations.

The Chinese Foreign Minister expressed hope that the new EU institutions will adhere to the cooperative tone of the China-EU partnership. He urged them to view China’s development objectively, pursue positive and pragmatic policies toward China, and promote the sustained, healthy, and stable development of China-EU relations.

Peter Szijjarto affirmed Hungary’s eagerness to expand and deepen cooperation with China across various fields. He emphasized the importance of facilitating personnel exchanges and enhancing the friendship between the Hungarian and Chinese peoples.

“Both Hungary and China support peace and advocate an international system based on mutual respect,” Szijjarto said. He expressed Hungary’s commitment to promoting positive and healthy development of EU-China relations and willingness to work alongside China to contribute to world peace and stability.

The meeting between Wang Yi and Szijjarto reflects a shared vision for stronger bilateral ties and a collaborative approach to global challenges. Their discussions signal a continued partnership that not only benefits both nations but also contributes to the broader development of China-EU relations.
