Over 15,000 people have been affected by rain-related disasters in Sri Lanka, according to the country’s Disaster Management Center (DMC). In a situation report released on Sunday, the DMC stated that 15,954 individuals from 4,307 families across seven districts have been impacted by events such as floods, strong winds, and tree falls.
The disasters have struck provinces including Northern, North Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Southern regions of the country. The highest number of affected individuals is in the Jaffna district of the Northern Province, where 7,010 people have been impacted.
The DMC continues to monitor the situation, providing updates as necessary. Residents in the affected areas are advised to stay alert and follow guidance from local authorities.
