A photo exhibition currently underway in Beijing is shining a spotlight on the extraordinary contributions of Chinese medical workers who have restored sight to patients with serious eye diseases across Central Asia.
Through a collection of powerful images, the exhibition narrates the transformative journeys of individuals in Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan whose lives have been changed by the gift of sight. Between April 2023 and October 2024, Chinese medical teams conducted free eye surgeries for 2,187 patients in regions including Bukhara, Samarkand, and Bishkek, according to the exhibition’s preface.
