In a remarkable display of sportsmanship and cultural exchange, young football players from the “Village Super” team of Rongjiang County in southwest China’s Guizhou Province’s Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture engaged in a friendly match with Brazilian youth football players on Monday in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The match was ceremoniously kicked off by Shen Haixiong, President of China Media Group (CMG), and Jose Jimenez, Chairman of the Ibero-American Council of Sports. The young athletes from Rongjiang County faced off against their Brazilian counterparts in an eight-person football match. Despite the language barrier, the universal language of football united the players, fostering new friendships and mutual respect.
Brazilian players expressed their enthusiasm for the experience, telling CMG that the match was a brand-new opportunity to engage with peers from China. They shared hopes of participating in more such matches in the future, strengthening ties between the youth of both nations through the beloved sport.
