China and U.S. Agree to Deepen Drug Control Cooperation

China and the United States have agreed to promote sound, deep, and pragmatic development of law enforcement cooperation on drug control. The agreement was announced by China’s National Narcotics Control Commission (NNCC) on Thursday, following the conclusion of the tenth China-U.S. Narcotics Control Strategic Intelligence Sharing Conference in Shanghai.

During the two-day meeting held on Tuesday and Wednesday, officials from both countries engaged in comprehensive discussions on a range of issues, including drug-related situations, chemical control, anti-money laundering efforts related to drugs, case cooperation, and personnel exchanges.

According to the NNCC, Chinese and U.S. officials briefed each other on the latest developments, exchanged views and suggestions, and set the direction for future cooperation. Both sides emphasized the importance of mutual respect, managing differences, and mutually beneficial collaboration in tackling drug-related challenges.

The China-U.S. Narcotics Control Strategic Intelligence Sharing Conference, initiated in 2002, is alternately hosted by the drug control departments of the two countries. It serves as a significant institutional platform for bilateral cooperation in the field of drug control.
