Xi Jinping’s Insights on Natural Resources Published in New Compilation

The Central Party Literature Press has released a significant new volume compiling General Secretary Xi Jinping’s profound discourses on natural resources work. This publication brings together pivotal insights that have shaped China’s approach to environmental stewardship and sustainable development.

Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in 2012, the CPC Central Committee, with Xi Jinping at its core, has prioritized the management of natural resources. Under Xi’s leadership, efforts have been intensified to optimize the framework for territorial space development and protection. This has included promoting the holistic conservation and systematic management of mountains, rivers, forests, farmland, lakes, grasslands, and deserts.

The newly published compilation features eight thematic sections, encompassing 286 excerpts from over 150 of Xi’s important speeches and written works dating from December 2012 to October 2024. Notably, some of these passages are being made public for the first time, offering fresh insights into the guiding principles behind China’s natural resource policies.

Xi Jinping’s discourses emphasize the significance of improving the country’s property rights and management systems for natural resource assets. They advocate for supporting high-quality development through high-level protection measures and underscore the importance of striving toward a form of modernization where humanity and nature coexist in harmony.

The publication of this compilation is expected to serve as a vital resource for policymakers, scholars, and environmental practitioners. It provides a comprehensive understanding of the strategic directions set forth by Xi Jinping regarding ecological conservation and sustainable utilization of natural resources.

Analysts believe that the book will contribute to furthering China’s goals of ecological civilization, a concept that integrates economic growth with environmental sustainability. It reflects the nation’s commitment to addressing global environmental challenges and fostering a future where economic development and ecological preservation go hand in hand.

As the world grapples with issues like climate change and biodiversity loss, China’s experiences and approaches, as elucidated in Xi Jinping’s discourses, may offer valuable lessons for other countries seeking to balance development with environmental responsibility.
